I love piercings so much! They're such a good way to express yourself if you,re even remotely edgy and the customisation options are so wide! I have had lots of piercings over the years and will sum up my thougtts on them below :)
Lobe piercings
Pros
- Classic choice
- Pretty much everyone's first piercing
- Single ear looks great, both even better
- Multiple piercings in each lobe looks fantastic
- Please use a needle to get pierced, and titanium flat backs with an internal thread
- Mine were done with a 1.2mm needle, but I wish I'd gone 1.6mm
Cons
- Price varies from place to place
- As does the quality of the piercing
- Studex system 75 isn't great, but it's better than Califon
- Please just go with a needle, it is so much easier
10/10 absolutely get these, they're classic and really nice!
Industrial piercings
Pros
- Probably the edgiest and coolest looking
- Plain bars look great
- Able to have more than one per ear
- Easy to hide with long hair, but you know it's there and you love it
- Honestly plain jewellery with these look so good
- Mine were done with a 1.6mm needle
Cons
- Not everyone can get them due to ear shape, please don't force it if you don't have the correct anatomy
- Was surprisingly uncomfortable to get done, but not terrible
- Absolutely go to somewhere that does them professionally with a needle in one motion
- Aftercare must be followed to the letter
7/10 Not for everyone, I know why people love them and it sucks that not everyone can get them, but you have to work with what you have!
Eyebrow piercings
Pros
- Look cool
- Lots of placement options
- Single eyebrow looks great, both even better, double eyebrows on both sides look great
- Another piercing where simple jewellery shines
- I had a titanium curved bar with an external thread
- Mine was done with a 1.6mm needle
Cons
- You will get a black eye from getting this
- I kept hitting mine with my glasses and it bled a lot
- Most painful piercing I got, was way way worse than my industrial
- I wanted this to work so much, but it just didn't vibe with me
2/10 I wanted to rock this one so bad and get more of them, but the black eyes, swelling, and glassess issues spoilt it for me, might try again with a smaller needle.
Septum piercings
Pros
- Look so cute
- Can have a range of rings, horseshoes or ball closures
- You can hide it bu swiveling it up!
- Looks very tasteful with good jewellery choices
- I won mine on a wheel of fortune and I loved it
- Mine was done with a 1.2mm needle
Cons
- Mean people will say you look like a cow
- Meant to be painful but mine was ok
- Make sure your balls are tightened regularly
- I knocked mine out which was devastating :(
12/10 flawless piercing, will get again.
Nostril piercings
Pros
- Look so cute
- Can have a range of rings or studs
- Looks very tasteful with good jewellery choices
- I got mine on the right with a hoop
- Mine was done with a 1.2mm needle
Cons
- None really, it's a solid choice
12/10 flawless piercing, will get again, plan is a small stud on both sides with a solid septum ring.
Wish list!
- Septum done again where I get a ball closure or captive ring from the start
- Both nostrils with studs
- Both outer eyebrows twice
- Three studs in each lobe OR 15-20mm plugs
- I want my tragus doing on both sides, but I wear earphones a lot so healing would be tough
- Snakebites
